Proverbs 8
Wisdom is personified in this chapter as a woman. She is in sharp contrast to the immoral woman of Proverbs 7.
We are advised to listen to her. She stands at the crossroads to guide us when we must make decisions, v. 2. She speaks the truth, and her words are plain, vv. 6-9. Wisdom is more valuable to us than wealth because she will give us good judgment. vv. 10-21 We all know about rich people who lack any kind of common sense! Look no further than Hollywood or the pop music industry or even professional sports. If we have wisdom, our "treasury" is full. v. 21
God's wisdom existed from eternity past because it is a part of who God is. vv. 22-31 These verses beautifully rehearse the creation, and they also remind us of the Lord Jesus who can be thought of as God's Wisdom in human form.
Godly wisdom off us joy, vv. 32-34, life and favor from the Lord. v. 35.
Acts 23:12-35
A group of Jewish leaders (more than 40 of them) proved that they were more interested in their positions than in serving God when they hatched a plot to kill Paul. Surely no believer would think THIS was a proper solution to differences. God protected Paul through his nephew. vv. 12-22 The nephew is called a "young man" leading us to believe that he was a child or teen. Remember that God can use us whether we're young or old when we're available to Him.
Next, the commander Claudius made arrangements to send Paul under heavy guard to Governor Felix. We see that God was working every step of the way in Paul's life and ministry. Paul's appearance before Felix is recorded in Acts 24.
