Paul asks for prayer that the Lord's message will spread rapidly and be honored wherever it goes. Apparently, Paul faced struggles with unbelievers--wicked and evil people. Spiritual warfare is nothing new, and we still face it today. Prayer is our most potent weapon! We must take spiritual attacks seriously, ask God for wisdom, strength, and help, study God's Word to increase our faith, have fellowship with people who believe the truth, and practice what we learn from godly teachers.
Satan is a powerful foe, but he is not match for God! "But the Lord is faithful; he will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one." v. 3 "May the Lord lead your hearts into a full understanding and expression of the love of God and the patient endurance that comes from Christ." v. 5
Psalm 103:13-22
Picking up where we left off yesterday talking about the attributes of God--all of which make Him worthy of our praise.
- He is like a father to his children, tender and compassionate to those who fear him. v. 13
- He knows how weak we are. v. 14
- He knows how brief our lives are. vv. 15-16
- His love remains forever with those who fear him. v. 17
- He will honor our children and grandchildren if we are faithful. v. 18 (Of course, we know that every individual must trust Jesus for his own personal salvation, but I believe this means that God often uses parents and grandparents to influence young people toward the Lord.)
- God rules over everything from His throne in heaven. v. 19
