Psalm 118:1-9
Let us all say of the Lord, "His love endures forever." We cannot repeat this too often!
Another important truth to remember is v. 6 "The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?" We might think, "Well, men can do a lot of evil things to us!" But we know that nothing happens to us without God's permission, and no matter what happens in this life, no person (including ourselves) can change the fact that we have a home in heaven! This earthly life lasts only briefly, but heaven is for all eternity.
"It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man. It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in prices." vv. 8-9 We trust cars and even airplanes to get us safely to our destination. We trust our bank to protect our money, though it may not be much! Every day we put confidence in many people and institutions, even the government! So why is it so hard for us to put confidence in the only One--God Himself--who is worthy of our trust? Everyone else is capable of letting us down. We can always trust God!
