Genesis 8:20-22

Genesis 8:20-22
Immediately after leaving the ark, "Noah built an altar to the LORD..." and made offerings to the Lord. And the Lord was pleased with his offerings. "Then the LORD said in His heart, "I will never again curse the ground for man's sake, although the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; nor will I again destroy every living thing as I have done."

The flood, of course, changed everything in nature. In v. 22, God promises to reestablish the seasons which have remained until this day. Every time we witness the beautiful and regular cycles of nature, it should remind us of God's control over everything and most importantly of His great faithfulness!

"While the earth remains,
Seedtime and harvest,
Cold and heat,
Winter and summer,
And day and night
Shall not cease."

These words reminded me of the hymn "Great Is Thy Faithfulness"

Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father
There is no shadow of turning with Thee
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not
As Thou hast been, Thou forever will be

Summer and winter and springtime and harvest
Sun, moon, and stars in their courses above
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy, and love

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside
