Psalm 72
This Psalm was written by Solomon who reigned after his father David. He is seeking God's help for the task before him. He asks for wisdom to judge his people in the right way and to always treat the poor fairly. He asks that his reign would be fruitful and prosperous. It's so important to remember that God can give us wisdom too so that we can be blessing to others.
The qualities that Solomon sought look to forward to the coming of Jesus--He who will reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords! If we make Him the Lord of our lives right now, we can experience the peace and safety that the people had during Solomon's reign.
"Praise the Lord God, the God of Israel, who alone does such wonderful things. Praise his glorious name forever! Let the whole earth be filled with his glory. Amen and amen!"
Luke 8:26-39
The healing of the demon-possessed man is something that is pretty strange to us. It shows that Satan and his fallen angels have great power and that their deeds are harmful and evil. They tortured the man, and then they destroyed the pigs. Jesus completely healed the man, giving him new life. You would think this miracle would have caused many to follow Jesus, but they begged him to go away. The healed man who begged to go with Jesus was perhaps the sanest of them all! And he told everyone what Jesus had done for him.
