Galatians 6; Psalm 64

Galatians 6
In this chapter we look at the following:

• Other believers. If a person is overcome by some sin, we should gently and humbly try to lead him or her back onto the right path being careful that we ourselves do not fall into the same trap. If someone is burdened or needs help, we should be there to do our part. No one should try to be totally independent, nor should we expect it of others.
• Ourselves. We must get our fulfillment from doing a job well. This is what pleases God. He does not compare us to other people, and we should not do it either.
• Our teachers. As believers it's our job to appreciate and support those who minister to us spiritually.

We find the law of sowing and reaping in vv. 7-10.  "...You will always harvest what you plant. Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death,,,But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit." So we shouldn't tire of doing right. Sometimes our good works go unnoticed by others, and this can be discouraging. But in His time, God will show us a harvest of blessing if we don't give up. "Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone--especially to those in the family of faith."

Paul gives the Galatians and us final words of advice in vv. 11-18. He prays that he will never boast about anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. What really counts is the fact that we have been transformed into a new creation. "May God's peace and mercy be upon all who live by this principle; they are the new people of God...may the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen."

Psalm 64
No one likes to be around a complainer, but God is willing to listen to anything we want to tell Him!
In this psalm, David complains to the Lord about enemies who plot against him. But as he tells God his troubles, he remembers that God will judge them--perhaps they will even cause their own ruin, vv. 7-8. Eventually every human being will realize God's might and power. And then as he usually does, David ends with rejoicing and praise. "The godly will rejoice in the Lord and find shelter in him. And those who do what is right will praise him."

This psalm is another reminder to pray, trust, and praise the Lord!
