Psalm 45

Psalm 45
This psalm was written for King David on his wedding day, but it is also a "messianic" psalm which means that it foretold the coming of the Messiah, Jesus Christ. And so it's about Jesus as well as about David. We will focus on Jesus.

• He is the most excellent of men, and His lips have been anointed with grace, v. 2 
• God has blessed Him forever. v. 2
• He is a warrior, vv. 3-5  He defeated death when He died on the cross and rose again. He will one day conquer Satan and all the nations of the earth.
• His throne will last forever. v. 6
• He loves justice. v. 6
• He loves righteousness and hates wickedness. v. 7
• He is honored with the fragrances of joy and grace. vv. 8-9

The image of the bride beginning in v. 13 represents the Church--all those who have been saved through faith in Christ. Because we've been bought by the blood of Jesus, God sees us as glorious in beautiful garments. We will one day join Jesus in heaven with joy and gladness, and we will praise Him for ever and ever.
