Revelation 6:9-17
Continuing to the look at the seals which will be opened during the Great Tribulation:
5th Seal--the souls of the martyrs who have died for the Word of God and their Christian testimony cry out for vengeance on the murderers. Actually, they knew that God would judge their murderers, but the question was "when?" Their deaths were not by accident, nor are the ones which would come after. God is in control even of such events as a believer's martyrdom! vv. 9-10
6th Seal--world-wide catastrophes. These will be earthquakes and more. Even the sun, moon and stars will be affected. These things will be so fearsome that all mankind left on the earth will try to hide from "the face of him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb." v. 15-17
Here is a quotation from Warren Wiersbe (Be Victorious, p. 67) concerning these verses: "If men and women will not yield to the love of God, and be changed by the grace of God, then there is no way for them to escape the wrath of God."
Psalm 41
David prays for healing from a serious illness. It's God's will for us to pray for healing--remembering that the answer is up to Him. Sometimes illness comes as a result of sin (not always), and when it does, we should seek forgiveness. v. 4
We should be compassionate toward those that are sick or otherwise troubled. "Blessed is he who has regard for the weak; the Lord delivers him in times of trouble." v. 1
As believers, we should be people who consistently praise the Lord in the good times as well as in the hard times. "Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting." v. 13
