Revelation 21:1-8; Psalm 62

Revelation 21:1-8
Though it is still hard to imagine, Revelation 21 and 22 tell us something about heaven. John sees a vision of "a new heaven, and a new earth." Human history as we know it has ended and God makes everything new. v. 5  vv. 2-7 compare it to a city--the Holy City, the new Jerusalem. The emphasis is on the people of the city, "prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband."  The most important part is that God Himself, the Beginning and the End, will dwell there with us, His people. He will wipe every tear from our eyes, and there will be no more death, mourning, crying or pain. "The old order of things has passed away." v. 4

Psalm 62
If I were to write a title for this psalm, it might be "Trust in the Lord." No matter what the issue is, we are called on to Trust God! Why is this so hard for us?

"My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken." Notice the repeated word, "alone." If we are trying to find rest in anything other than God, we need to confess our sin and sincerely ask God to help us trust Him. v. 1-2  These words are basically repeated in vv. 5-7

"Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge." v. 8
 Trust Him at all times.
Trust Him at all times.
Trust Him at ALL times!

"One thing God has spoken, two things have I heard: that you, O God, are strong, and that you, O Lord, are loving." v. 11  God is strong, and He can handle anything and everything! Not only is He strong, but He is loving. Everything He does is for our good. Praise the Lord!
