Psalm 76

This is a psalm praising the Lord for a military victory after He has defended Jerusalem. So how does this apply to us today? Well, for one thing, we know that we are to praise in our prayer and in our worship. We seem to have no trouble asking Him for our wants and needs, and this is part of prayer, but I'm afraid we're not very good at the praising part!

Let's look at what this psalmist says about God.

• His name is great in Israel. And we know it's great in our world today as well. v. 1
• He is resplendent; glorious with light. v. 4
• He is more majestic than mountains rich with game. v. 4
• He defeats His enemies. vv. 3, 5-10
• He alone is to be feared. v. 7  Think about this one for a minute. It seems that most of us fear everything BUT God. We are to reverence and respect and trust Him and never underestimate His mighty power. He does not fear men, but we should fear Him and be faithful to Him! v. 11
