Psalm 119:153-160
It's painful to be accused--falsely or otherwise! If we are falsely accused we can, with a clear conscience, ask God to argue our case. We can claim His promise of protection, v. 154.
Sometimes we are in trouble because of our own wrong choices. When this is the case, the Lord is still merciful, v. 156. Our job is to seek forgiveness and commit to following God's Word now and in the future. Though we may be surrounded by wicked, troublesome, traitorous people, God's Word is true and it does not change. "See how I love your commandments, Lord. Give back my life because of your unfailing love. The very essence of your words is truth; all your just regulations will stand forever." vv. 159-160
Acts 8:26-40
This passage deals with Philip witnessing to the Ethiopian eunuch. The narrative actually speaks for itself, but we can draw a few lessons from it. The eunuch seemed to be honestly seeking the truth, and God, in His mercy, brought someone along to help him understand the scripture and to tell him the Good News. Philip was willing to obey the Lord, leave a thriving and exciting ministry with the other apostles and go to minister to one person. It's important to listen to the still small voice of the Holy Spirit which is still at work among believers today and then obey the Lord. And who knows what He'll do?
