Psalm 124
This is a psalm of praise to the Lord who has delivered his people from enemies who wanted to devour them, v. 3, drown them, vv.4-5, and tear them apart, v. 6. Our enemies are likely more subtle, but Jesus has won the victory through His death and resurrection. We, like Israel, have escaped, and we are free! "Our help is from the Lord, who made heaven and earth." v. 8
Acts 11:1-18
After Cornelius and some other Gentiles received the Word of God, some Jewish believers back in Jerusalem criticized Peter for associating with Gentiles. Some of them thought that Gentiles could not be saved, and others believed they could be saved by becoming Jews. Both were wrong. It's interesting that these particular believers heard Peter out and eventually rejoiced in what God was doing. v. 18 We can learn from this. When disagreements arise, it's always a good idea to listen to the other side. They just may be right!
