Psalm 120
"I took my troubles to the Lord; I cried out to him, and he answered my prayer." v. 1 The Lord is the best place to start any time we have troubles! The psalmist was apparently hurt by lies about him. This is very hard to take, but he gives us a good example by leaving the punishment up to God. vv. 2-4
In v. 5-6, we see that the psalmist feels far from home, probably lonely and living among warlike people. The problem with wars and fighting is that we must have a winner and a loser. The psalmist is a peacmaker. v. 7 It's good to be a peacemaker whenever we can. If we are successful, it's possible for everyone to be a winner!
Acts 9:19-31
After spending a short time with believers in Damascus, Saul began preaching about Jesus to the Jews in the synagogues. It's interesting that Saul began almost immediately after his conversion telling others about Jesus. v 21 indicates that Saul's changed life was a powerful testimony to all who heard him. It didn't take long until some of the Jews saw him as a threat and plotted to kill him, but with the help of the believers, he was able to escape. Since Saul was no longer persecuting them, the church enjoyed a time of peace in which they grew spiritually and in number. Galatians 1:13-19 tells us that somewhere around this time, Saul (who later was called Paul) lived in a desert region in Arabia where God prepared him for the great ministry that he would have.
