Psalm 121
What does God do for us, His children?
1.  He is our helper. Though He made heaven and earth, He still watches over us and helps us. v. 1
2.  He is our protector. He never sleeps, but is always watchful for our protection, day and night.
     v. 2-8

This is a psalm worthy of our meditation. If we are parents, we know the need we feel to protect and help our children (and grandchildren!) But we are limited. We need rest and sleep; we grow weak; we have limited resources; we don't know all the facts. We can be thankful that we have a Heavenly Parent who is not limited in any way. "The Lord keeps you from all harm and watches over your life. The Lord keeps watch over you as you come and go, both now and forever." vv. 7-8   I assume "forever" means just that--for all eternity.

At about the same time as Saul's conversion, Peter was preaching in various places, and God worked several miracles through him. Remember that this was the early church before the Word of God was complete, and sometimes God worked special miracles as signs that these men were indeed men of God. Now we DO have the Word of God, and we can measure the truth according to it. One of the miracles was the raising of the much-loved believer, Tabitha, from the dead. Tabitha's Greek name was Dorcas. v. 36. The Bible records only a few instances of people being raised from the dead, and of course, they did eventually die again. One thing I find interesting is that Tabitha used her gifts for the Lord. "She was always doing kind things for others and helping the poor." v. 36  "...widows...weeping and showing him (Peter) the coats and other clothes Dorcas had made for them." v. 39  God has not given us all the same gifts, but He expects us to use what gifts we have for Him. God uses great preachers like Peter, but He also uses the gift of kindness. I think we can all make use of that gift!
