1 Peter 4:7-11
In vv. 1-6 Peter warned us not to wish for the past--especially our sinful past. In addition, we should not feel guilty about it because Jesus has paid the penalty for all our sins. In the verses at hand today, we are told to be serious about the present because we don't know how long we'll be here on this earth. None of us will live forever on this earth, and the Lord may return at any time. Our lives may be hard, and so Peter gives us good advice. We are to be earnest and disciplined in our prayers, and we are to show love one for another. We are to be hospitable, especially to those in need--and needs in our day can be more than food or shelter. There are many lonely and troubled people out there. God has given us spiritual gifts, and we are to use them to serve others and to bring glory to God!
