Romans 5:12-21

Romans 4:12-21
We are part of the human race, descended from Adam, and because we are human, we are sinners. So how can we be held accountable for Adam's sin? I'm not sure I totally understand this, but I do know that I am responsible for my own sin! And every individual since Adam has been a sinner as well. Because of our sin, we are condemned. And don't forget that every miserable and violent thing that happens in this world is the result of sin. "But even greater is God's wonderful grace and his gift of forgiveness to many though this other man, Jesus Christ...And the result of God's gracious gift is very different from the result of that one man's sin. For Adam's sin led to condemnation, but God's free gift leads to our being made right with God, even though we are guilty of many sins." vv. 15, 16

"So just as sin ruled over all peple and brought them to death, now god's wonderful grace rules instead, giving us right standing with God and resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." v. 21

Let's never forget that as sinners, we are totally helpless to save ourselves. Only through faith in Jesus Christ and His "one act of righteousness" can be have a right relationship with God and new life. v. 18. Many people in our world don't believe this. They still cling to idea that if somehow our good deeds outweigh our bad ones, God will accept us. The Bible doesn't teach this, and to be perfectly honest, our bad deeds outweigh our good ones anyway! Our only responsibility is to believe, to accept the gift of salvation which God offers through His Son Jesus.
