Genesis 21:1-7
God keeps His promises! Abraham and Sarah became parents in their old age as God had promised. They named him Isaac, and he brought much joy to them. Sarah made this comment in v. 6, "God has made me laugh, and all who hear will laugh with me." Not only did Isaac bring joy to his parents, but he became the ancestor of the Lord Jesus who would one day come to earth to bring the joy of salvation to millions who would trust Him.

Psalm 22
I take the following information from The MacArthur Study Bible, p. 760
"This psalm presents the reader with a great contrast in mood. Lament characterizes the first 21 verses, while praise and thanksgiving describe the last 10 verses. Prayer accounts for this dramatic shift from lament to praise. It is the story of being God-forsaken and then God-found and filled. It was applied immediately to David and ultimately to the Greater David, Messiah. The New Testament contains 15 messianic quotations of or allusions to this psalm, leading some in the early church to label it 'the fifth gospel.'"

I. Hopelessness (22:1-10) Before we met the Lord, we were all hopeless. God seemed to be far away, no matter when we cried out to Him. We were discouraged and depressed.
II. Prayer (22:11-21) The psalmist pours out all his woes before the Lord, admitting his discouragement.
III. Testimony and Worship (22:21-31) These are words of praise and thanksgiving! God has heard his prayer!
"All the ends of the world
Shall remember and turn to the LORD,
And all the families of the nations
Shall worship before You." v. 27
