This psalm, written by David, was originally a prayer before going into battle. As we look at it, we'll remember that we're in a spiritual battle.
- May the Lord answer us in our times of trouble. v. 1
- His name will defend us and others against the forces of evil. v. 1
- He will give us strength when we're weak. v. 2
- He knows our heart's desire, and it's ok to ask for it. May He grant it if it's in His will and it honors Him. (Sometimes our heart's desires are not good for us!)
- The most important thing for us to remember is that we can trust in the LORD our God. "Some trust in chariots, and some in horses..." In our day and age, we might say, "Some trust in people, some in money, some in jobs, some in the government(!), some in the stock market, etc.) All of these things can and often do fail. We must trust wholly and completely on the LORD our God. v. 7.
- Remember that God hears and answers our prayers and sends His help when we need it!
