Hebrews 6:13-20
The writer of Hebrews is certain that the Hebrews will continue in faith and endurance like Abraham did. God promised blessings to Abraham and his descendants, and He kept His promise. God cannot lie, and He cannot break His promises! "Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God's inner sanctuary. Jesus has already gone in there for us. He has become our eternal High Priest in the order of Melchizedek." vv. 18-20
We have fled to God in sincerity to save us from our sins. He, whom we can trust completely, has done it! And not only that, He is there to hear and answer our prayers according to what He knows is best for us. After all, Jesus is our High Priest. This should give us confidence, peace, and encouragement.
Psalm 119:145-152
These verses combine prayer with God's Word. These two go together perfectly to make a two-way conversation between us and God. So many times we want to talk, but we don't want to listen. In our spiritual lives, listening is probably the most important part! In vv 147 and 148, we learn that it's always the right time to pray whether we rise early in the morning to do it or whether we are unable to sleep at night. God, in His faithful love, will hear us, v. 149. And as we stay regularly in His Word, we are reminded to obey it, and our faith is strengthened as well. "...you are near, O Lord, and all your commands are true." v. 151
