Hebrews 3:7-19; Psalm 119:97-104

Hebrews 3:7-19

The Holy Spirit says, don’t harden your heart when you hear my voice. Israel did just that even after they had seen miracles for 40 years. God judged them for this, and that generation was not allowed to enter into the promised land. (see Numbers 14) We must be careful of hardening our hearts, and in addition, we must warn one another not to be deceived by sin and hardened against God. Our job is to be faithful to the end trusting God just as firmly as when we first believed.

Notice the warnings. The Israelites in the wilderness were an example of what NOT to do.

Don’t:

·         Harden your hearts v. 8

·         Test God vv. 8-9

·         Disobey God vv. 10, 18

·         Practice unbelief vv. 12, 19

·         Turn away from God v. 12

·         Be deceived by sin v. 13

·         Sin v. 17

Psalm 119:97-104

“Oh, how I love your instructions! I think about them all day long.”

This is a great pattern to follow. It’s good to read God’s Word; it’s even better to study it. It’s best to add meditation to the reading and study.
