Hebrews 13:1-6; Psalm 136

Hebrews 13:1-6
"Keep on loving each other as brothers and sisters." Real love is accompanied by actions.

• Hospitality--even to strangers
• Sympathy for people in prison
• Empathy for those being mistreated
• If you are married, stay faithful to your spouse.

In contrast to the first commandment to love each other, we are told in v. 5, "Don't love money!" We are to be satisfied with what we have and not always be wanting more. God has promised that He will never fail us nor abandon us. v. 5 "So we can say with confidence, 'The Lord is my helper; so I will have no fear. What can mere people do to me?'" v. 6

We will deal with this psalm tomorrow (I hope). But for tonight, we will just look at v. 1, and this will be a good thing to meditate on!
"Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good!
His faithful love endures forever."

It would be interesting to know how many times in the Bible we are told to give thanks and that God is good. Let's never forget these. And then, as we will see, the refrain, "His faithful love endures forever," is repeated in each of the 26 verses in this psalm. How long is forever? Well...forever! This is a precious promise. "His faithful love endures forever."
