Psalm 111; Luke 22:54-71

Psalm 111
We are never too old to be students! This psalm teaches us how to be good students.
1.  Worship. We are to praise and thank the Lord as we meet with God's people.  v. 1
2.  Ponder God's deeds and delight in what He has done. All His works reveal his glory and majesty. His righteousness never fails, and He is gracious and merciful to us. vv 2-6
3.  See God in His Word. vv. 7-9  We can count on God's trustworthy Word. This is something to think about because there is very little if anything in this world (besides God's Word) that we can count on to be absolutely true and not misleading in any way.
4.  Obey God's Word. v. 8 It's not enough to know God's Word is true, but we are responsible to obey it. Remember that this obedience is not to earn our salvation because, praise the Lord, that is given to us by grace, the gift of God. Rather, we obey because of our love for our heavenly Father and because it is for our own good.
5.  Fear the Lord. v.10  This means we are to reverence and respect Him. "Fear of the Lord is the foundation of true wisdom. All who obey his commandments will grow in wisdom. Praise him forever!"

Oh my! Satan is still at work in Luke 22!
Satan's victory over Peter was temporary. Peter did deny the Lord 3 times as Jesus had predicted. However, we immediately see the beginning of Peter's repentance when he leaves the courtyard weeping bitterly.  We will learn that he was eventually restored to fellowship with the Lord.

Satan's victory over the religious leaders, however, was complete. They refused to accept the truth about Jesus, and they condemned their own Messiah.
