Psalm 119:73-80
"You made me; you created me. Now give me the sense to follow your commands." Wow! That's putting it out there pretty bluntly! But it's great advice, isn't it? Since God is our Creator, why wouldn't we let Him manage our lives? He knows best about how to handle our minds, bodies, money, time--you name it! Let's look to God FIRST instead of making a big mess of it, and then coming back to Him to pick up the pieces!
Acts 4:1-12
The scene here is still the same--Peter and John are speaking to the people who had seen the miracle of the lame man walking. The Jewish leaders, including the Sadducees who did not believe in the resurrection, were upset that Peter and John were teaching about Jesus and especially about His resurrection. They arrested them and held them in jail over night. However, many who heard the message believed so that the believers now numbered 5,000 men plus women and children. (I guess such a numbering was politically correct in that day!).
The next day the leaders demanded of the two disciples, "By what power, or in whose name, have you done this?" They replied that the man was healed by the powerful name of Jesus Christ whom they had crucified and who now fulfills the scriptures, which say, "The stone that you builders rejected has now become the cornerstone." And then Peter and John go on to make this definite statement about salvation, "There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved." v. 12 That statement leaves no wiggle room for other ways to be saved. We saw this truth in Jesus' own words in John 14:6, "Jesus told him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.'" Some may say this is narrow-minded, but God's ways are not up to us. He is sovereign, and He gets to set the requirements.
