Psalm 101
A psalm of David
We could entitle this one, "I Will." Notice how many times David said "I will"! Now that's determination. David was determined to
1. Praise the Lord and sing of His love and justice. v. 1
2. Live a blameless life even in his own home, recognizing that he needed God's help for this. v. 2
3. Be careful what he saw.v. 3
4. Avoid dishonest people. v. 3
5. Avoid wicked ideas and people. v. 4
6. Avoid gossips and slanderers. v. 5
7. Avoid conceit and pride. v. 5
8. Look for faithful people for his companions. v. 6
9. Look for honest people to serve him--remember that he was king. vv. 6-8
Luke 19:11-27
This is the parable about a king and his servants. It is meant to remind us that we are servants of King Jesus. We can reject his ruling in our lives as the enemies of Jesus did and be judged for our unbelief. We can accept His rule and still be unfaithful with our lives. But ideally we can accept His rule and be faithful in using the gifts He gives us and receive His reward. He wants us to invest as wisely and faithfully as we can our gifts and talents and resources for Him.
