Psalm 102
The psalmist is asking God to hear him in his trouble and discouragement. Vv 1-11 are pretty depressing. The psalmist says his days are disappearing like smoke, his heart is sick, he has no appetite, he can't sleep, his enemies mock him, and more!
Then come the very important words in v. 12, "But you, O LORD." No matter how dark the days are, and no matter what others do or say, God is always there, and He never changes. He will sit on His throne forever; He will have mercy and He will help us in our times of need. The world that He made will perish, but God will remain forever. vv. 25-28 This was written for our encouragement centuries before we were born. "The children of your people will live in security. Their children's children will thrive in your presence." v. 28
Luke 29:28-48
As Jesus traveled toward Jerusalem the people honored Him as their King, but apparently they did not realize that He would have to suffer and die. In fact Jesus wept over the city because they did not "understand the way to peace." v. 42. When He entered the Temple, He drove out those who were using the Temple for personal gain. This should be a powerful lesson to us in this church age that God is not pleased when people take advantage of His people for their own personal gain.
