Psalm 94; Luke 16

Psalm 94
God sees the actions of the wicked. He is not deaf, and He is not blind, and He will judge the wicked. vv. 1-11. This psalm also gives us instructions on what we must do. God will give us instructions, v. 12, and relief from our troubles, v. 13. He will not abandon us, v. 14, and He will protect us and help us, vv.16-17.  He will support us with His unfailing love, v. 18, and He will comfort us when we are in doubt. vv. 18-19. He is our fortress and our safe place to hide. v. 22.

Think about how we see so many evil and violent things happening in the world. In addition, it seems that Christians are often singled out, even in this country, for ridicule and oppression. Let's remember that God sees all this much better than we do. He will defend His own, and He will judge and punish the wicked.

Money! "Money is a wonderful servant, a terrible master, and an abominable god."-Warren Wiersbe
This chapter is all about money, something most of us think about in one way or another every day.
What does this passage teach us about money?
1. We shouldn't waste it. v. 1
2. We should use it to invest in the good of others. vv. 2-9
3. We cannot serve God and money. vv. 10-15   God is not looking at how much we GET, but rather how much we GIVE. 
4. Money can become our god. vv. 19-31  The earning and amassing of money can become addictive. And remember that poor people, as well as the rich, can become obsessed with money and material possessions. The rich man in this story had apparently made his riches his god, and this god was not able to secure a place for him in heaven. Notice that riches in and of themselves is not the problem. Abraham was a rich man, and we see that he is in paradise. The difference is that Abraham trusted the one true God, and the rich man in the story trusted a god of his own making--in this case money.

This parable of the rich man and Lazarus also teaches us that if we or anyone will not believe God's revealed Word, neither will we believe the truth even if we are shown miracles.
