Psalm 105
Psalm 104 was all about praise for God as the Creator. Psalm 105 praises him for being our Savior and for providing care for His people, the children of Israel. As you read this, remember that we too are His people through our relationship with His Son, Jesus, and we can claim His promises of redemption and care. But we do know that for some reason, Israel was God's special people, His chosen ones.They are the ones referred to as the descendents of Abraham and Isaac.
The Psalm starts with praise for God's greatness and encouragement to tell others about His wonderful deeds. Starting with v. 12, the psalmist summarizes the history of Israel and how God provided for them. V. 42 says He remembered His sacred promise to his servant Abraham, and He will remember His sacred promises to us as well.
Luke 21:1-4
Jesus watched the people dropping their gifts into the collection box. Interesting. Actually He is STILL watching what we put in the collection box! He is not concerned with the actual amount we give, but with the proportion of what we have. A large gift that is no sacrifice to the giver does not impress the Lord. I remember my mother used to say something like this, "It's not what you give that's important, but what you have left." God rarely asks a person to give everything as this poor widow did, but it pleases Him when give sacrificially.
